Godspell Comes to Alton High School

The Alton Middle School Theater will present their fall musical “Godspell” 2012 Version. The production will take place Friday, November 10th and Saturday, November 11th at 7 pm. Tickets are $6 for students (must show I.D) and $8 for adults.

At the behest of John the Baptist (James Hull), young men and women forsake their jobs and take up the mantle of Jesus Christ (Brenden Counts) — becoming his disciples — in a musical retelling of the Gospel of Matthew set in modern-day New York City. Using song and dance, the apostles traverse the city, spreading Christ’s message of love and tolerance as the time moves ever closer to his betrayal at the hands of Judas (Eli Hill) and, ultimately, his crucifixion.

This show will feature the following students; George (Diego Perez),  Nick (Shane Kaufmann), Celisse (Kamren Mason- El), Gibbon (Sophia Kumagai), Uzo (Hallie Lewis), Morgan (Kennedy Stephens), Lindsey (Josie Giertz) and E’niya Fields who plays Anna Maria who sings the famous song “Day By Day”.  This show is directed by the theater director Paul Herbert Pitts.

Pitts says “Godspell has been a great show to see the students come together as one despite their differences. This show is an audience participation show and audience members should come ready to enjoy and participate.”
