St. Louis, MO – St. Louis Limelight Magazine, an online theater publication, announces that veteran journalist Lynn Venhaus has joined the staff as managing editor.

Since launching in June 2017, the publication has lacked formal editorial oversight. The addition of Venhaus is part of publisher Jordan Zeitler’s plan to increase the quality and professionalism of the magazine, which spotlights theater productions in the St. Louis metropolitan area.

”We created Limelight to be a resource for the theatre community as well as to make information on the many companies more accessible to the general public,” Zeitler said. “Starting off, we didn’t realize the desire for such a publication, but the response has been overwhelming. Now it’s time to revamp our look and content to continue building a magazine the St. Louis community can be proud of. Adding Lynn to our team will bring a new level of professionalism that the publication has been lacking.”

Venhaus has worked as a reporter, feature writer, reviewer, and editor for daily and community newspapers in the region for 41 years.

“I am excited to collaborate with the Limelight team. We want to provide engaging coverage and are passionate about our plans. I appreciate this opportunity and thank Jordan for his determination and commitment,” Venhaus said.

As a founding member of the St. Louis Theater Circle in 2012, she participates in awarding excellence in St. Louis professional theater. She has been on the Arts for Life board since 2010, which recognizes outstanding work in community theater.

Venhaus has written theater reviews for many years, most recently for the Belleville News-Democrat from 2008 to 2017, and on She will oversee Limelight’s coverage and write for the website. Currently, a media instructor at SIUE and freelance writer-editor, she has a mass communications degree, with a theater minor, from Illinois State University.

“My life has been enriched by regional theater, and I am inspired by the devoted artists who dig deep for our entertainment. Expanding our publication’s reach is something we are eager to do.”
“There are different types of theater every weekend, and the tenacity of the local community is remarkable,” Venhaus observes. “Their efforts are truly a labor of love, and we want to explore the local arts scene with enthusiasm and insight, but also with an informed critical eye.”

Zeitler noted that feature articles and reviews will be expanded, and new content will be added to better the publication and the community as a whole.

“I want to thank everyone for their continued support as we grow and evolve. We have learned from these challenges and strive to improve this website every day. We want to succeed as a needed resource and fresh voice in this community we love so much,” Zeitler said.
